Gilbert Townsend Chamberlain was born on 7 Feb 1793, the son of William Chamberlain. His mother is uncertain; see the Research Note on his father's profile for a discussion of the evidence. He may have been born at Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), where his birth appears in the vital records,[1][2] but that is uncertain; the date of his father's move to Livermore is unknown, and he may have been born before that move.
