Charles Chamberlain was born 09 February 1820 at Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, England. He was the son of William Chamberlain. [1]

On 27 March 1842, at the Parish Church, Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, Charles Chamberlain, minor, Bachelor, occupation: Labourer, son of William Chamberlain, married (by Banns) Mary Anne Collis, minor, Spinster, daughter of James Collis. [1]

On Saturday last the death occurred at the Hospital, of Mr Charles Chamberlain, also from an affection of the heart, ending in heart failure. The deceased, who possessed a fine constitution, having reached the advanced age of 87 years, and would have been 88 on on the 9th of this month.
Deceased was a native of Oxford (sic) [Cambridgeshire], England, and had been resident in Victoria about 59 years, having arrived in this country in 1848.
He visited many of the diggings in the early days, including Bendigo, Ballarat, Castlemaine, Friar's Creek, Dunnolly, and Rushworth. For many years he resided on his farm at Gobarup, between the Half-Way House and Rushworth, before coming to Heathcote and Redcastle.
A few years ago he had the misfortune to lose an arm through an accident, the arm having to be removed, but his hardy constitution, though then of advanced years, enabled him to come through it all right.
He leaves three sons and one daughter, viz., Mr D. Chamberlain, of Heathcote, Messrs. G. and W. Chamberlain, of Redcastle and Mrs. F. Clark.
The remains were removed to Redcastle and interred in the Redcastle Cemetery on Tuesday last, the funeral being attended by many friends, the burial service being read by the Rev. G. N. MacDonnell. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr W. Mitchell, the funeral requisites being supplied by Messrs Perry Bros. [4]

The marriage record states that both Charles Chamberlain and Mary Ann Collis were minors (under the age of 21) when they married on 27 March 1842. If his birthday was 09 February, then this would make him born in 1822 or later.
The death record states that Charles Chamberlain was age 86 when he died on 02 February 1907.
The Obituary states that he was age 87 when he died and would have been 88 on the 9th of February.

There is a baptism for a Charles Chamberlain with father, William Chamberlain at Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, on 06 January or 06 June 1824.
