Biography

Stephen Chapling was born about 1812 and was baptized on the 11th of October, 1812 in St. Margaret, Womenswould, Kent, England. He was the son of George Chapling and Sarah Morris^[1]

Stephen married Mary Barman on the 23rd of November, 1834 in Woodchurch, Kent, England.^[2]

Stephen and Mary had three children;

• Sarah Ann Chaplin b. 1836
• Hannah Chaplin b. 1838
• John Chaplin b. 1840 d. 1840

In 1841 Stephen is widowed and staying with his parents in Green, Upper, Woodchurch, Kent, England. In the household are Stephens two children, Hannah and Sarah and possibly a younger brother by the name of William. ^[3]

Stephen married Rebecca Woodgate on the 2nd of February, 1845 in Woodchurch, Kent, England. Rebecca's marital status at the time of the wedding is not known, but she was the mother of Rebecca Woodgate who was born in 1844.^[4]
