On 16 Aug 1853, George Thirling bachelor, labourer aged 23 of Hawsker father John Thirling, a labourer married Mary Chapman spinster aged 32 of Hawsker father John Chapman, a carpenter, at Whitby, St Mary the Virgin. Witnesses: Margaret Clarkson and William Clark. [3]
Ann Hall in the 1861 census was described at mother in law. Though Mary was not on this 1841 census, it seems likely that this is her family who were living at Montague Street, Stainton in the North Riding of Yorkshire but not far from Stockton, County Durham. None of them was born in county. [6]
