In 1912, aged 46 Robert was working as a blacksmith in Trafalgar, Victoria. [2] It was here he met and married the local fruiterer Alice Collins nee Kelly. [3] The couple did not have any children.
After the wedding the couple moved to Melbourne, living at 110 Kerr St. Fitzroy, Victoria in 1914. Robert was working as a blacksmith, and Alice was performing home duties. [4] By 1915 they had moved to 58 Fitzwilliam St. East Kew. [5]
In 1922 Robert was still working as a labourer. He was residing with Alice at 3 Stanley St. Caulfield, [6] then in 1924 they moved to 38 Winter St. Malvern, an address they occupied until at least after 1927. [7]
The couple moved back to Trafalgar about 1934, with Robert working as a labourer.
[8] They remained at 38 Whitton St, Trafalgar until after Alice's death. In 1958 Robert's address was Post Office Hotel, Stawell, [9] where he lived until he moved to live with his family at Black Range, Stawell. [10]
Robert passed away in Stawell on 30 November 1965, [11] and was buried in the Stawell Pleasant Creek Cemetery, aged 88 (note, gravestone in profile photo says date of death was 31 November.) [12]
