Ordean (O.B.) Christianson, 82, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at his home in Crookston, MN.
O. B. was born at home, on September 12, 1926 to Bennie and Nellie (Boen) Christianson in Bear Park Township, rural Norman County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the Norman Lutheran Church. He grew up and also attended country school near Bear Park and later the Agriculture School in Crookston, MN. O. B. was united in marriage to Joyce Bakke, on July 24, 1948, at Faaberg Lutheran Church in Rindal, MN. They made their home on a farm, near Bear Park, where they raised their five children. In 1957, the family moved to Silver Bay, MN and O. B. worked in the taconite plant. In 1963, after his father's death, they moved back to the family farm where O. B. farmed. He moved to Crookston, MN in 1983, where he lived with his partner, Cathy Johnson. Together they operated an antique shop, where they enjoyed restoring antique furniture. O. B. had a unique sense of humor; he loved to tell jokes, played cards and listen to country western music. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
O. B. is survived by: two daughters: Diane Christianson, Mentor, MN, Leanne (Mike) Novacek, Warren, MN, two sons: Keith (Donna) Christianson, Mentor, MN, David (Sue) Christianson, Erskine, MN, his partner: Cathy Johnson, Crookston, MN, two stepsons: Dwight (Irene) Johnson, Crookston, MN, Rodney (June) Johnson, Crookston, MN, one stepdaughter: Cheryl (Ken) Lake, Seattle, WA, 9 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, one brother: Dr. T.L. (LaVonne) Christianson, Mayville, ND, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: one daughter: Adrienne Sulerud, one sister: Alma Roe, four brothers: Orval, Norman, Archie, and Stanley.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 2:00PM in his church, Grace Lutheran, Erskine, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 7, from 5-7 PM and a prayer service at 7 PM in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
Burial will be in the Norman Lutheran Cemetery, Bear Park Township, MN.
