Origins

"Elizabeth White was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Church who came from "Dolbay of the Woulds in Leicestershire in England to Ireland".^[1]

"Dolbay of the Woulds" in Leicestershire, as it is spelled in their contemporary Quaker record, refers to Old Dalby, Leicestershire.

"Old Dalby is a village in the English county of Leicestershire. It is located to the north-west of Melton Mowbray. It was originally known as "Wold Dalby" or "Dalby on the Wolds"^[2]

Arthur and Elizabeth Church arrived in Ireland as planters in 1657 and settled in Queen's County shortly before the birth of their first child Elizabeth on 3 Jan 1658.^[3]

Childhood

Elizabeth Church grew up in Queen's County. She was the oldest of eight children. When she was 14 her father died, and two years later, in 1674, her mother remarried and they moved to Newgarden, County Carlow.

Marriage

Elizabeth Church married Joseph White on 6 Jun 1677.^[4][1] They had one child in ireland, who died in infancy. All of their other children were born after they arrived in New Jersey in Nov 1681.
