Emily Hannah Clarke was born in Cowley, Oxfordshire in 1881.[1] She was the daughter of Joseph Clarkes and his wife Emily (nee Dixon). Her baptism took place at St James, Cowley on 5th June 1881.[2] Her father stated on the register that he was a labourer.
Marriage
John Arthur Stanton and Emily Anne Clarke were married after banns at St Mary and St John, Cowley, Oxfordshire on 31st January 1904.[3] John was 22, a bachelor working as a moulder and living at 18 Golden Road, the son of John Stanton (deceased) who was a labourer. Emily was 23, a spinster living at 98 Charles Street and the daughter of Joseph Clarke who was a labourer. The witnesses to the marriage were John Bazeley and May Greenwood.[4]
