James, son of William and Elizabeth Clegg, was born in Camden, Middlesex, England in 1789 and baptized in St. John At Hampstead, Camden on June 20, 1789. He married Mary Charlotte Kerr(Kear) on December 11, 1808 at St. Mary's Church, St. Marylebone, London, England. Their daughter Elizabeth was born at Hackney, Middlesex in 1812. James was buried at St. Luke, Chelsea, Kensington, Chelsea, England on February 13, 1833.
