James was born in 1847. He is the son of William Cliff and Betsy Unknown.

1870 Wolstanton - marriage to Eliza Hood ^[1] She is the sister of Ann Hood, who married his brother George in 1873

James Cliff of 12 Vale View, Porthill, Wolstanton, died 12 Feb 1913; probate to Leonard Cliff, butcher, Harold Cliff, farmer, and Richard Clarke, grocer ^[2]
