John Clune was born about 1840 at Quin, County Clare, Ireland. He was the son of James Clune.[1]
He married Bridget Walsh from Kilkishen. They made their home at Quin, County Clare where they raised a family of ten or eleven children.[2]
John Clune of Quin was a carpenter when his son Cornelius was born in 1893.[3]

John Clune was a mechanic according to the 1917 marriage certificate of his son Stephen Joseph Clune, National Teacher, of Quin.[6]
↑ Bridget reported 11 children born alive in 1911, but her son Conor's biography reports "Bhí cúigear buachaillí eile sa chlann agus ceathrar cailíní agus ba é Conchubhar an duine ab óige díobh" and the Wikipedia entry for Conor said on 1 May 2023 that Conor "was one of a family of seven boys and three girls."
