Edward William Coates was born on January 30, 1883 in Coates Mills, Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada, son of George B P Coates (1852–1905) and Margaret Ann Coates (1857–1935).[1]
Edward had a brother, Harry Gordon Coates (1885–1936).
Edward married Bessie May Lewis (born on July 17, 1880 in Steeves Mountain, Moncton, Westmorland, New Brunswick; daughter of Stewart Lewis and Amelia (Leaman) Lewis). Their known children were:
Edward died on July 4, 1957 in Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, aged 74. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick.[1]
