Biography

Job was a yeoman.

In 1753, Job signed a receipt for his share of his father's estate.[1]

Probate

Job Cobb, of Plymouth, yeoman died intestate and on 10 August 1761, his widow Patience was granted the administration of his estate.[2]

His inventory was taken on 2 September 1761 in Plymouth. His widow Patience was the administrator of his estate.[3]

In 1770, an account of his estate by his widow Patience Cobb was recorded which included the sale of land, funeral charges, gravestones, debts paid, provisions for the family, necessaries to the widow, and administration fees. An inventory of his real estate was appraised again, and it was found that the estate could not be divided without spoiling it, so it was settled upon his eldest son Job Cobb (except the widow's dower), who agreed to pay the other children their share, viz., Cornelius Cobb, Nehemiah Cobb, David Cobb, and Patience Cobb.[4]
