Abraham was born in 1828 in Lanark township, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of John Code.
He married Eliza Hopkins in Lanark on 28 February 1858.[1]
They had children:

At the time of the 1861 Canadian Census Abraham (30y) and Elizabeth (24y) are living in Drummond, Lanark with children Emily (1y) and Mary Ellen (1y). Abraham's occupation is recorded as Manufacturer. Recorded in the same household is George Code (35y) - Abraham's brother and business partner.[2]
After being defeated in an earlier election he was elected to a seat in the Provincial Legislative in 1869 following the death of the sitting member William McNair Shaw in 1869.[3] He held the seat until April 1879.
In the 1871 Census Abraham, Eliza and several children are living in Drummond Terrace, Lanark. [4]
In 1871 Abraham built a large woollen mill in Carleton, Lanark. The venture was not a financial success and the mill was closed in 1878.
In 1880 he took a position as an Inspector of Weights and Measures with the federal Ministry of Internal Revenue.
By 1881 Abraham (now a widower) is living in Carleton Place, Lanark with 9 children.[5]
He passed away in March 1898[6] and is buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa.[7]
