Biography

Jim Coffindaffer was an Appalachian.

James David "Jim" Coffindaffer was born in Kincheloe, West Virginia on August 24, 1940 to Charles Coffindaffer and Virginia Board. He was the second of four children, all sons, born to the couple.

Jim, as her preferred to be known, was initially raised on his paternal gransparents' farm on Kincheloe Road. By 1950, the family moved to Grant Township, West Virginia. By 1960, the family was living in Jane Lew, West Virginia.

On July 23, 1960 Jim married Sandra Wamsley in a Methodist ceremony in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The couple had at least four children, including a premature infant son who died shortly after his birth in 1968.

Jim later married Barbara Welch sometime in 1977 or 1978.
Jim was a Truck Driver.
He was a truck driver and dock worker for Yellow Motor Freight and Cook Motor Lines. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and North Charleston Apostolic Church, where he volunteered his services to help those in need. He also volunteered his services at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Jim died at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia on September 5, 2015. He was 75 years old. He is buried in Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery in Lost Creek, West Virginia.
