He married first Florence Irene Blackwell on 17 September 1944 in Clarksburg, Harrison County, in a ceremony performed by John F. Nelson, Minister of the Gospel.[2]
John died on 23 February 2006 in Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico,[4] and he is buried in the Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, New York.[5]
