Herbert Walrond Coggan was born in 1886 in Gundagai, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, New South Wales, Australia. His parents were John Walrond Coggan (1858 - 1946) and Annie Mary (White) Coggan (1865 - 1952).
Herbert had 6 siblings they were:
