This John Coggeshall appears on page 24 of my father's book 'Ancestors and Kin' and is well sourced in that book. This John is one of the line of 5 John Coggeshalls discussed by me in the posting on this site for a John Coggeshall who died at about Age 16 some time after 1400. This John is known to have had 2 children (Thomas and Robert), both named in the father's will along with his wife Katherine -- and he was also believed to have 2 more sons John and William who are both sourced by court documents in the same area as those named above. All source information for these Coggeshalls is available on page 464 of 'Ancestors and Kin' based on a detailed article in the NEHGR of 1969 by George Moriarty.

My father is the only genealogist to have proven to Royal Bastard genealogical standards 8 different lines in our family back to a Bastard child of the Kings of England. His book, 'Ancestors and Kin' is so well researched and sourced, that we have been told that the DAR accepts it as a valid source for those trying to meet DAR standards. But the Royal Bastards require higher standards, which my father was able to meet for 8 different lines, getting Royal Bastard memberships for himself, his two sons, his two granddaughters and his three grandsons.

If this family is among your ancestors, you are advised to get this definitive discussion of early Coggeshall lines in England by buying this book ‘Ancestors and Kin.’ Before Amazon began charging a monthly fee for listing a book for sale, I sold copies of this book on their site. I am now selling this book directly from my home. While I charge $50 (postage paid in the USA), I will beat by $5 any advertised price for this book in new condition, and still also ship it free anywhere in the USA. Please contact me by e-mail and I will provide you with additional information on this book's contents. Peter C. Coggeshall

They do not let me post an e-mail address on this site. But you can build my e-mail address by putting the letter p in front of my last name. I am on Earthlink and the ending citation is dot net.
