Biography

BENJAMIN COLBY, born at Hopkinton, 25 Sep 1776 son of William Colby and Elizabeth Straw;[1] Benjamin died at Springfield, 20 Mar 1854;[2] married at Hopkinton, New Hampshire, 25 Mar 1800,[3] ABIGAIL EATON, born at Methuen, 9 Mar 1775 daughter of John Eaton and Sarah Clark;[4] Abigail died at Springfield, New Hampshire, 29 Feb 1852.[5]

Abigail Eaton and Benjamin Colby owned a farm in the southwest part of Springfield, New Hampshire. Benjamin was selectman at Springfield in 1837.[6]

In 1830, the household of Benjamin Colby was seven persons at Springfield: one male 50 to 59, one female 50 to 59, one male 5 to 9, one male 15 to 19, one male 20 to 29, one female 15 to 19, and one female 20 to 29.[7]

Children

Abigail Eaton and Benjamin Colby were parents of seven children born at Springfield, New Hampshire.[8]

iv TIMOTHY COLBY, b. 16 Feb 1807; d. at Petersburg, IL, 16 Jul 1849. Timothy did not marry.
