During the 1871 census, the family can be found living at 16 Vincent street, Swansea. Their father George is listed as a Mason.^[2]

Ten years later, the family are still living at 16 Vincent street, Swansea. George is still listed as a Mason, but William's older two sibling have now left home.^[3]
