Biography

Elsie Maxine Cole was born on 31 August 1917 at Pierceton, Kosciusko, Indiana.

In the 1920 census Elsie was living with her parents Roy and Mahala Cole in Washington Township, Indiana. She was aged 2 years. ^[1]

In 1930 the family was still living at Washington Township. Elsie was aged 13 years. ^[2]

Elsie then married Paul S. Grayson, date unknown.

In the 1940 census Paul and Elsie were living at Wayne Township, Indiana. Paul, aged 27, was a farmer. Elsie was aged 22. Daughter Patricia was aged 4 months [best guess]. Also living with them was Gale Warner, a laborer aged 26. ^[3]

Elsie Maxine Grayson remarried to John George Brec on 24 October 1947 at Trumbull, Ohio. Their marriage licence application recorded John was 34 years of age on 21 November 1946 and was working at Packard Elec. Co. His address was 1812 Valley SW, Warren, Ohio. He had been born in Czechoslovakia to George Brek and May Goodvani [?]. John was a widower. Elsie was 30 years of age on 31 July 1947. She had been married once before and was divorced. Her address was then 2274 S Prospect Ave, Warren, Ohio. Elsie had been born in Pierceton, Indiana to Roy Cole and Mahala Werstler. ^[4]

Elsie Maxine Brec remarried to Joseph John Gac on 23 November 1957 at Trumbull, Ohio. Their marriage licence application recorded Joseph was 40 years of age on 29 October 1957 and was working a press operator. His address was 1401 Bueno Vista NE, Warren, Ohio. He had been born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Blaze Gac and Helen Surverla. Joseph had not been previously married. Elsie was 40 years of age on 31 July 1957 and was working as at Packard Elec. She had been married twice before and was a widow. Her address was then 1812 Valley SW, Warren, Ohio. Elsie had been born in Pierceton, Indiana to Roy Cole and Mahla [sic] Werstler. ^[5]

Joseph J Gac died on 26 August 1959 aged 41 years. ^[6]

Elsie Maxine Gac remarried for the fourth time to Robert Best on 16 August 1962 at the Municipal Court, Warren, Trumbull , Ohio. Their marriage licence application recorded Robert was 39 years of age on 23 June 1962 and was working as a letter carrier. His address was 432 Manchester Ave, Youngstown. He had been born in Cleveland to John F Best and Sylvia Langford. Robert was divorced [as at 29 July 1959] from Lillian Best and had four minor aged between 13 and 9 years. Elsie was 44 years of age on 31 July 1961 and was employed at Packard Electric. She was a widow. Her address was 1812 Valley St SW, Warren. Elsie had been born in Pierceton, Indiana to Roy N Cole and Mahala E Werstler. ^[7]

Robert Carroll Best died on 29 May 1993 at Youngstown aged 67 years. His date of birth was recorded as 23 Jun 1925. ^[8]

Elsie Maxine Best died on 5 August 2004 at Trumbull aged 87 years. She had been residing at 2958 Malibu Dr, Trumbull at the time of her death. Elsie's date of birth was recorded as 31 August 1917. ^[9]
