Biography

It is thought that James Collett was born in 1793 at Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire. The baptism register of Upper Slaughter shows a baptism for James, son of William Collett and Sarah Holland, on July 14 1793. No date of birth was recorded in the register, therefore we only know he was born either on or before his date of baptism.[1]

In 1815, James is 22 years old and is in the 2nd battalion Grenadier Guards, Private 5430390, taking part in the Battle of Waterloo. Records show that he was wounded.[2]

He passed away in 1851.
