Albert was born in Denton, Lancashire, England, in 1886. ^[1] His birth was registered in the fourth quarter in Ashton under Lyne. He was the son of Joseph Collins and Mary Halkyard. He was enumerated in the 1891 ^[2] and 1901 census ^[3] residing with his family in Haughton, then Denton, Lancashire. (Both towns within the Registration District of Ashton under Lyne). In 1901, he stated he was fourteen and a "Felt Hatter".

Albert passed away in 1905.^[4] His death was registered in the fourth quarter in Ashton Under Lyne.
