Biography
Recognized the value of the Tully limestone on his father-in-law's former property at Shurger's point (later Portland Point), and mined and burned the stone for Ithaca glass factories. Later this property was developed as the Portland Point Cement Company and then the Penn-Dixie Cement Works; later, salt mining was done.
