DEATH OF MRS. E. W. SAUNDERS. Feb 1935.^[1] —Held in affectionate esteem by a large number of residents of this city, where she has lived for 46 years, Mrs. Ellen Winifred Saunders passed away at her residence, Brisbane-street, on Monday, at the age of 70 years.^[2] She has been ill for about nine months. Her daughter, Mrs. E. R. Kent, died about 14 months ago. The late Mrs. Saunders was of lovable disposition, and during her life In Ipswich she made many firm friends. She was born at Normanby, and when she was married she came to Ipswich, where she spent the remainder of her life. She was married 46 years ago to Mr. William James Saunders, in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.^[3] Her husband, who died 36 years ago, was a well-known [grocer?] and carrier in Ipswich. … The late Mrs. Saunders, who was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Collins (Normanby)^[4] was well remembered as a splendid equestrienne. She is survived by one son, Mr. William James Saunders (Sydney) and two daughters, Mesdames G..Green (Ipswich), and H. M. Carroll (Harrisville), two daughters having died. There also are 18 grandchildren. The funeral took place from her residence yesterday morning, the services being conducted by Monsignor Baldwin.^[5]
