Philip was born in 1872. He was the son of Benoni Colvin and Mary Boyd. [1]

He married Elsie Mumma in 1898. [2]

In 1900 they lived in Freeport. [3]

They moved to Rockford before 1910 where he was a foreman at the Case Factory. [4][5][6]

Phillip passed away in 1935.[7]

COLVIN RITES SATURDAY Case Plant Foreman Dies Following Illness

Funeral services for Phillip E. Colvin, 61, who died at St. Anthony Hospital yesterday at 8:15 am following an extended illness will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at the home. The Rev. John Gordon, pastor of the Second Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be at Willwood Burial Park.

Mr. Colvin was born born November 22, 1873 in Freeport. He had lived in Rockford for 38 years and was foreman at the pattern department of the J. I. Case Company at the time of his death. Previous to his employment with the Case Company he had been employed at the Emerson-Brantingham Company, a predecessor of the Case concern. He was a member of Camp 51 of the Modern Woodman.

Surviving are the widow, Elsie May; four sons, Charles, Harry, Frederick and Robert; four daughters, Mrs. Harold Cotting, Mrs. A.M. Johnson, and the Misses Kathryn and Phyliss; two grandchildren, a brother Arthur, and two sisters, Miss Amanda Colvin of Rockford and Mrs. Charles Shrock of Freeport. [8]
