One of two candidates for the father of Eugene Conant (1900-?) who married Mabel O'Halloran.

In 1880, Eugene W Conant is enumerated with his parents and siblings in Lisbon, Maine.^[2] The youngest child is Ernest Conant, b abt 1879, who is the other candidate for the father of Eugene Conant (1900-?).

Eurgene married Grace Reynolds on 13 September 1899 in New Hampshire. This record indicates his parents were J.W. Conant and Myra Cottle. And that Grace's father was Josiah Reynolds.^[3]

In 1900 (married 0 years in census); they are enumerated in Westbrook, Maine with a newborn (0 months) Eugene.^[4]

In 1910, Eugene W Conant and Grace, with three children are in Westbrook, Maine.^[5]

He registered for the draft for WWI. His registration card lists as a relative Eugene Wade Conant Jr of Livermore Falls, Maine.^[6]

He is still alive in the 1940 census, living in Essex, Massachusetts (where he's been since at least 1935), with his spouse identified as Anne, suggesting that Grace died and he remarried and moved south.^[8]

His social security death index record indicates he lived a long life, dying in 1965.^[9]

While his last official residence may have been Essex, Massachusetts, his Find-a-grave profile (if accurate) claims that he died in Kennebunkport, Maine and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook, Maine where many other Conants are buried.^[10] A close examination of the headstone reveals no death date, suggesting that this stone was placed prior to his death; this suggests he may not actually be buried there. The stone also says he served in "Co M 1st Maine Inf".
