Jehu was born on 17 July 1749 in Sussex, Delaware, USA. He was the son of Thomas Conwell and Elizabeth (Claypoole) Davidson.

Jehu died at the age of 85 on 14 December 1834 in German, Fayette, Pennsylvania, USA.

Research Notes

• 10 Jul 2022: Many records refer to him by two different names: Jehu and John.

A deed recorded 22 Aug 1834 in Fayette Co. PA provides some history. The Commonwealth of PA granted a patent to John Conwell, 4 Mar 1819, Patent Book H Vol 16, page 469, Luzerne Twp, adjoining Lewis Deem, Harni Hackney, William Conwell and others. 422 3/4 acres. And 31 May 1831, Book H Vol 20 p. 301 a second grant to John Conwell, adjoining William Conwell, Thomas Scott, Thomas Davidson and others 271 acres. A part of this land was sold to William Ewing, who later died. The Lafayette Co. Orphans Court Oct 1828 and Jan 1829 decreed to John H. Ewing one of the heirs. The instrument is to confirm the ownership to John H. Ewing in considerationof one dollar. The tract is described with lines adjoinin Lewis Deem, Samuel Craft, William Roberts. David Craft and Geo Conwell witnessed.
