Thomas came to Australia, possibly with family, on the Rockingham, arriving on 14 May 1830.[1]
He married Cecelia Craigie Nicholson on 6 April 1843 at Toodyay.[1] They had eleven children in seventeen years.
Thomas was not listed in the 1837 Census but bythe early 1840s he was working at "Glenavoo" for Slade at Toodyay. He later leased "Wootendale" & "Roesland" in that district until bankrupted by drought and fire in 1868. Thomas then leased twelve mile Inn "Travellers Rest" from 1869-1874 on the Toodyay-Gulldford Rd. (Inq. 17.3.1869). He carted for the Dempsters in the 1870s. He employed twelve Ticket of Leave men at Roesland & Guildford Rd. from 1859-1878. Thomas ended his years with his son Fred at Wyening.
