Biography

James Cooper was born in 1832 in Stanthorne, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of James Cooper and Catherine Bebbington. James was baptised on 23 December 1832 in Middlewich, Cheshire, England.[1]

In the 1841 census James (age 8) was living with his parents and 6 siblings in Davenham, Cheshire, England.[2]

James married Elizabeth Clarke on 27 December 1853 in St Mary, St Denys and St George Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England.[3] Together they had 4 children:

  1. William Cooper
  2. Alfred Cooper
  3. Joseph Cooper
  4. Annie Cooper

In the 1861 census James (age 28) was employed as a ship yard labourer and was the married head of household in Toxteth Park, Lancashire, England. He lived with his wife and children.[4]

In the 1871 census James (age 39) was a grocer and the married head of household in Toxteth Park, Lancashire, England. He lived with his wife and 4 children.[5]

James's death (age 46) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1879 in the West Derby & Toxteth Park district.[6] His wife was widowed and running their grocery shop with their son Alfred during the 1881 census.[7]
