George Cooper was born in Lincolnshire, England.

George Cooper was born in 1837 in East Laund, Haxey, Lincolnshire, son of Mary Cooper, and was baptised on 4 June 1837 in Haxey. ^[1] His mother was a single woman, and was living in East Laund, Haxey at this time. ^[2]

In 1841 George (age 4) was in East Laund, Haxey, Lincolnshire, living with his grandmother Esther Cooper, his mother Mary and Mary's brother Emanuel Cooper, ^[3] and in 1851, age 14, still living in East Laund with grandmother, uncle Emanuel with his wife and children.^[4]

George, married Ann Elizabeth Pidd 19, on 24 November 1859 in St Oswald, Crowle, Lincolnshire,^[5] and in 1861 they were living in Crowle where George worked as an Agricultural Labour. ^[6]
When George's daughter Anna Elizabeth Cooper was baptised on 10 January 1870 they were living in Park Gate, Rotherham, Yorkshire, and George was working as a Labourer, ^[7] however Hannah died soon after the birth, as well as their daughter.

In the 1881 census George (age 44), Excavator, was the widowed lodger of John Hilbert in Walkeringham (Nottingham), Lincolnshire, England.^[8]
