Maria Cooper was born before, and christened on, 13 August 1815 in Alconbury, Huntingdonshire, England, the daughter of William & Mary (Rae) Cooper[1]and her siblings were John Cooper, Charlotte Cooper, Henry Cooper, Frances Cooper, Charles Cooper, Ann Cooper, Maria Cooper and James Cooper.

She married Enoch Death on 21 December 1834 in Alconbury Cum Weston, Huntingdon, England[2] and was the father of Charles Death, David Death, John Death (1838-1840), Mary Death (1840–1840), John Death (Younger), Burton Death, William Death and Ann Death.

In the Census of 1851, the family were still living in Alconbury, Huntingdonshire, England, with the exception of John the younger and Mary, who had died soon after birth.[3]but three years later, Enoch and Sophia had made the big decision to migrate to Australia with their five younger children, David, John, Burton, William and Ann, leaving England in Early 1854 and arrived aboard the "Monsoon" on 13 August 1854[4], and settled in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

Their oldest son, Charles Death, remained in England where he married Sophia Scuffham, had children, and spent the remainder of his life.

Maria died on 2 June 1866 in Drayton, Queensland, Australia [5].
