Biography

Mary Kate Corbett was born on 18 May 1898 according to her death registration and the 1939 register;^[1] however it seems likely she was actually born on 17 May 1897 in Mitchelstown, County Cork, the daughter of John Corbett and Catherine (O'Grady) Corbett. ^{[2] [3]}

Mary died at the age of 74 in March 1973 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.^[1]

Research Notes

The 1939 register also has her birth date as 18 May 1898 so it seems clear that was what she believed it to be. However there is no match for this in English/Welsh or Scottish birth registrations, and no Mary Corbett born that date in Irish birth registrations, so it seems likely the family had misremembered her birth date.
