Biography

Lucy Corey was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1836, the daughter of Jonathan and Clarissa (Bennett) Corey. She married Rev. Charles Augustus Votey, a widower with five children, in 1863 in Fall RIver. ^[1] They had one daughter, Clara Corey Votey.

Rev. Votey became the pastor of the 14th Avenue Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Lucy passed away in Detroit a few years after his death. Both are buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River. ^{[2] [3]}
