John Petter was born in 1793 at Graaten, Solum.[1] He was the son of Cornelius Jonsen and Susanne Erboe.[1]
In the 1801 census in Skien, the 8 years old Iver Petter Jonsen is listed in the household of Cornelius Jonsen and Susanne Erboe as deres son.[2]
He was confirmed on 5 April 1807 in Solum.[3]
