John H. Cornell was born on June 2, 1847 in Beverley, Wentworth, Canada West. He was the son of James B. Cornell (~1824– ) and Anne Hore (1827–1866).
John (22) married Sarah M. Lawrason (19) (born on August 24, 1850; daughter of James William Lawrason and Eunice (Buckborough) Lawrason) on December 21, 1869 in Beverly, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. [1] Their children were:
- Nellie Alexandra Cornell (1873– )
- Laura Evalena Cornell, 1873
- James Fletcher Cornell, 1875- died young?
- John Ackman Cornell (1878– )
- James Lawrason Cornell (1880– )
- George Sherwood Cornell (1882–~1945)
In the 1871 census John (age 23) was recorded as married in Beverley, Hamilton-Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. Their faith was Irish Episcopal Methodist. They had a daughter Nellie; 5 months old.[2]
In the 1881 census John (age 32), Farmer, was recorded as married with four children in Beverly, Gore, Upper Canada. They were of Presbyterian faith.[3]
In the 1891 census John (age 43, farmer) was in Dumfries South, Brant North, Ontario, Canada. He was living with his wife Sarah (42), five children and one other.[4]
In the 1901 census John (age 53, German, Presbyterian) was the married head of household in Wentworth & Brant (north/nord), Ontario, Canada. He was living with his wife Sarah (age 50) and children Nellie (27) and George (18).[5]
In the 1911 census John was the married head of household in Brant, Ontario, Canada.[6]
John, son of James Henry Cornell & Ann Hurr, died (age 80) on 25 October 1927 in East Flamborough Twp., Ontario, Canada.[7] John was mentioned on a memorial in St. George Cemetery, St George, Brant County Municipality, Ontario, Canada with a death date of 25 October 1927.[8]
