Biography

Ebenezer Cornish was born about 1836^[1]. He was the son of Thomas Vivian Cornish (<1800– ) and Grace Ambrose (<1801–1869).

Ebenezer CORNISH married Frances Elizabeth JAQUES on the 27th of June 1857 in Christ Church, North Adelaide, South Australia. He was registered as of full age and the son of Thomas Vivian CORNISH. Frances was registered as of full age, and the daughter of John JAQUES.^[2][3].

Ebenezer (28) was imprisoned from 20 Aug 1864 to 19 Nov 1864 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. He was a rate collector at the time, and had embezzled the rates he collected.^[4].

In the case of Ebenezer Cornish, charged with having failed to make payment to the Corporation of a sum of £159 5s. 5d., collected by him in the capacity of Collector of the City Rates, a distress warrant was issued, ordering the defendant to be imprisoned for three months, in the event of his goods being insufficient to meet the deficiency.^[5]

Ebenezer CORNISH died on the 26th November 1873 in Port Augusta. He was registered as 36 and living in Port Augusta at the time of his death.^[6][7]

CORNISH.—On the 26th November, at Port Augusta, of exhaustion from over-exertion whilst bathing, Ebenezer Cornish, aged 37 years.^[8]
