Biography
Thomas was born about 1805. He was the son of Richard Cotter.[1] He worked for his father in the West Indies before returning to England where he married Jane Nicholson in 1834.
Thomas was appointed the first colonial surgeon of South Australia[2] in 1835. He travelled to South Australia in 1837 on the Coromandel.[3]
