Biography

Rose Ellen Counsell was baptised as Roselline in Uphill on 1 March 1861^[1], the daughter of William Counsell and Maria Fear Whitting.

She was referred to as Roselline in the 1871 census^[2], but as Rose E. Counsell in 1881^[3] when she was an assistant to an confectioner – John King – in Bridgwater.

She used the name Rose Ellen Counsell when she married Hubert John King (abt.1860-1930), the son of the confectioner, in Bridgwater in the last quarter of 1884^[4] and continued to use that name for the rest of her life.

Rose and Hubert remained in Bridgwater where they had six children. She died there in the spring of 1925^[5].
