Biography

Pierre Coutancineau / Coutansineau was born about 1630, likely on the Île-de-Ré, in or near the parish of Saint-Martin where his parents Pierre Coutancineau / Coutansineau and Jeanne Feret were living and he and his siblings married. [1]

Including his brother Julien, who emigrated to Nouvelle-France with his children by 1669, his parents Pierre and Jeanne had at least four sons at Saint-Martin-de-Ré: [1]

  1. Julien - born about 1630, married 1657 to Marie Langlois, emigrated to Nouvelle-France by 1669
  2. Pierre - married 2 Oct 1657 to Suzanne Valleau (with brothers Julien, François and Jacques as witnesses)
  3. Jacques (noted as witness at marriages of Pierre and François)
  4. François – married 30 April 1668 to Jeanne Coulombeau (with brothers Julien and Jacques as witnesses)
