Samuel Cowlam was christened at St Oswald's church, on 14 Dec 1766 at Crowle, Lincolnshire, son of Robert Cowlam and Jane Anderson[1]
On 26 Nov 1792, Samuel married Betty Chester at Crowle, Lincolnshire, in St Oswald's Church. Witnesses to the marriage were Ann Anderson (spinster) and James Anderson (note: witness is James Anderson, jnr)[2]

His name is listed as a subscriber in a book/journal called "The Experienced Farmer an entire new work in which the whole system of Agriculture Husbandry and Breeding of Cattle is Explained and copiously enlarged upon; and The best methods with the most recent improvements pointed out, by Richard Parkinson of Doncaster in the County of York in Two Volumes - VOL 1. London Printed for G.G. & J. Robinson Paternoster Row. 1798"[3]
Samuel died in 1833, and was buried on 22 Apr 1833 at Crowle, Lincolnshire, England[4]
