William was born in 1855. He is the son of Henry Cox and Sarah Dean. He married Mary Ann Thomas on 29 May 1907 at Bowden, South Australia. She was born on 29 June 1865 at Para Plains. William died on 3 July 1917 in Adelaide and Mary Ann on 5 February 1943 in Adelaide. “beloved widow of William James Cox and loved mother of Harry, of Lennox street, Semaphore, aged 77 years.” [The Advertiser, Adelaide, 6 Feb 1943] Their only child was Harry Keith Cox, born 13 August 1907 at Balaklava.
