Jane was born 11 Mar 1837 in New York state.[1][2] She was the daughter of John and Betsy (Graham) Crabtree.[2]
She married Curtis Dake on 19 Dec 1855.[2] The couple would have two children[2] during the 45 years or so that they were married.
At some point after the Civil War, and likely following the death of her mother-in-law, the couple migrated west, settling temporarily in Iowa,[3] then proceeding to Nebraska[4] where they would live out their days.
Her husband passed away from Pneumonia on 24 Jan 1901 as a complication from "the grip." It was stated that the community of Franklin, NE., where they were living, was experiencing a historic epidemic, with fully three quarters of the town having come down sick.[5] Another of those infected was likely his wife as Jane passed away less than two weeks later, on 5 Feb 1901.[2]
