Edwyn Maxwell Crease was born on 20 September 1901 at Wells, Somersetshire. His date of birth was recorded in the 1939 Register.

Edwyn was living with his family at Priory Rd, Wells at the time of the 1911 census. He was aged 9 years.

Edwyn Maxwell Crease married Dorothy Madeleine Gadd on 6 February 1933 at Quinton, Birmingham, Warwickshire.

From the Wells Journal dated Friday 10 February 1933, Pg 1 - WELLS ALDERMAN’S SON MARRIED. Mr. Edwyn Maxwell Crease and Miss Dorothy Gadd. The wedding took place at Quinton Parish Church on Monday, of Mr. Edwyn Maxwell Crease, only son of Alderman E. E. Crease and Mrs. Crease, of Home Hurst, Priory-road, Wells, and Miss Dorothy Madeline Gadd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Gadd, of Sydney House, Blackheath. Both bride and bridegroom are well-known in the City. The bride was sports mistress at the Wells Girls’ Blue School for several years. Mr. Crease is Bristol Area Manager for Messrs. Kolster-Brandes, Wireless Manufacturers, of Sidcup. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a brown dress with short sable coat and hat to match. Mr. Roy Clare was best man. The Vicar, the Rev. Palmer officiated. A reception was afterwards held at the Plough and Harrow Hotel, the guests including Ald. And Mrs. Crease and Miss Hazel Crease. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Crease left for their honeymoon which is being spent in the South of England. They were the recipients of many useful and costly presents. [Included photograph]
