Biography

Peter Critchley was born on 29 Nov 1828, and christened on 15 Feb 1829 at St Michael's Church in Burtonwood, Lancashire. He was the son of Henry and Ann Critchley. His father's occupation was recorded as weaver, and the family's address as Burtonwood.

By March 30th 1851, they were in Eccleston Street, Eccleston. Peter and his father were both brickmaker's labourers.

Peter married Elizabeth McCulloch on 19 Sep 1852 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Neither had been married before, and both were of St Helens. Peter was 23 and a brick maker, Elizabeth was 20. Their fathers were named as Henry Critchley (brick maker) and John McCulloch (labourer). The witnesses were George Ashton and Mary Ashton.

Peter passed away in 1884.
