Biography

The daughter of John Croll and Eva (Swank) Croll, Sarah Croll was born in Beaver Township, Pennsylvania, in Columbia County,[citation needed] in 1842, residing in 1850 in Union Township, Pennsylvania, in Schuylkill County, in the home of her maternal grandparents, John and Mary Swenk.[1] In 1860, she lived in the Union Township home of her employers, Jacob and Mary Faringer, working for them as a domestic servant.[2]

At the age of 19, Sarah gave birth to a daughter, Violetta Krebs (10-Jan-1861 to 6 Mar 1929),[3] (m. Cornelias R. WHITNER) with Lucian William Krebs. Sarah later Daniel A. Rumbel (1841-1921), the son of Johannes Rumbel and Rebecca Margaretha Andreas, marrying on February 25, 1866[citation needed] and having seven known children together:

  1. Ida Rebecca Rumbel (1866-1907)
  2. Cora Eva Rumbel (1868-1923)
  3. Emily Matilda Rumbel (1870-19520
  4. John Franklin Rumbel (1872-1932)
  5. Leda M. Rumbel (1875-1893)
  6. Owen Walter Rumbel (1877-1948)
  7. Daniel Otto Rumbel (1880-19510

They made their home in Schuylkill Township, Pennsylvania, farming.[4] By 1880, Sarah and her family lived in Slabtown, Pennsylvania, in Locust Township, farming.[5][6]

Sarah Rumbel passed away in Locust Township, Pennsylvania[citation needed] at the age of 59 and is buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery in Numidia, Pennsylvania.[7]
