On May 19, 1856 in Carbonear, Maurice Connell married Ellen Cronin. The wedding was witnessed by Denis Carroll and Mary Walsh.^[1]

Ellen (Cronin) O'Connell, a widow, age 88, born in Carbonear, was living in Thibault Cove, Woods Island. Her neighbors were her son Maurice, and daughter-in-law Milly O'Connell.^[2][3]
