Samuel was born in 1872. He was the son of Stephen B. Cross (1847-1922) and Elizabeth Mae Keller (1853-1895). He had a sister named Emma Cross (England)(1882-1956).
He married Augusta Moore in 1893.[1][2] They had 8 children, attested on FS and Find a Grave:
Lee Cross 1895-1975
Jesse Cross 1896-1937
Elizabeth Mae Cross Cross 1898-1971
Odia Cross Robinson 1900-1966
Grover Cross 1902-1918 (twin)
Rose Cross 1902-1980 (twin)
Lena Cross Smith 1904-1968
Berstel "Bert" Cross 1906-1972
He passed away in 1907. He is buried in Lambert Chapel Cemetery
Research Notes
Father possibly Stephen Cross (abt.1849-) - however that profile has a problem; listed father John Barton Cross is born in 1858, so will not connect to him.
FS has different parents listed for Stephen Cross - father Barton Howerton Cross II (1824-1887) and his first wife Emily Black, than Find a Grave - John Cross 1819-1875 and John's first wife Anna Owen. Would tend to favor Find a Grave but this is an area with many cousin marriages. Also possible that there were two Stephen Crosses. Samuel's son Jesse married a descendant of Barton Howerton Cross II.
