Biography
Charles Earnest Crown was born May 14, 1882 at Jackson Township, Coshocton, Ohio, United States the son of J. Lemuel Crown and Hannah Wolford. [1][2]
At age 36, on September 12, 1918, Charles was drafted into the armed service during World War I. He is described as tall with brown eyes and dark hair, white race. His permanent address was 805 S. 7th St. in Coshocton. His occupation was a machinist at Coshocton. His father, Russell Crown was his nearest relative. [3]
He married Freda J. Randles before before 1906 as their son Charles Russell was born that year.[4] By the time the 1910 census was taken, they were living at Ward 2, Coshocton, Ohio. Charles was aged 26, Freda was aged 25, and they had a 4 year old son named Charles R. and a 2 year old son named Ralph E. In the census record, they are listed directly below his parents and sister. Charles was a machinist at the Novelty Factory.[5]
Freeda (Randles) Crown died April 15, 1917 at Coshocton, aged 34. She suffered a relapse after an operation for appendicitis. The newspaper article about her death notes her husband was a City Councilman.[6]
When the 1920, 1930, 1940 Coshocton census(s) were taken, Charles was married to a younger woman named Sevilla A.[7][8][9][10]
Charles Earnst Crown died August 10, 1952 at age 70. He was buried at South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton.
