Jennie was born in Clarendon County near Paxville, South Carolina, a daughter of John Humphrey Cubbage and Eulela Eloise Barkley Cubbage. Her mother, Eulela, was the daughter of Matthew James Barkley and Catherine Christian Frierson Barkley.
She was the sister of Arthur Montgomery (1879 - 1955); Allan Bertran (1887 - 1958); and Clarence David Cubbage.
She was the wife of Leighton Ephraim Kolb who is buried beside her. A few years after the death of her husband, Leighton, Jennie married his brother, James Mack Kolb, who had lost his wife at a very early age. James Mack and his first wife, Harriet Barkley Kolb, are buried in the Ardis-Kolb Cemetery located within Manchester State Forest.
